The intention of the Congress organizers is to create a forum of exchanging experiences connected with current problems of copper ore mining in Poland and in the world. Leading topics of the Congress will be deposits acquiring and developing as well as technical, technological, organizational and legal aspects of exploitation. We would also like the current operations undertaken by mining companies in the face of global economic crisis to be presented.
The Congress motto “Perspectives and Challenges” does not only define its main idea in words. It can also be a determinant of the place and role of mining industry in the world economy in the future. We hope you will find the initiative of organizing the Congress valuable and hope for your numerous participation.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee
Paweł Markowski
We repeatedly participate in scientific and technical conferences, during which we become familiar with problems of other mining companies. Whilst doing so we try to understand the matter of presented problems basing most of all on our own knowledge and experience. Then we also look for inspirations to activities and challenges we face ourselves. The diversity of conditions of the mining works as well as external conditions including macroeconomic and legal conditions influence different approach to technical and organizational matters of copper miners in different parts of the world. However, there are common planes of activity, which can determine mutual interest and possibilities of implementing proved solutions into other mines. They can apply to the basic aspects of mining such as: extraction, transport and ventilation as well as other matters regarding e.g. technical and natural hazards prevention, work organization and safety. The position held by KGHM Polska Miedź in the world copper production as well a over 40 years of experience in carrying out underground ore exploitation for such a scale let us present our own technical and organizational solutions. The wealth and value of these experiences make a perfect ground for discussion with numerous research and development centres, mining companies and other companies working for mining.
We hope for your great interest in the Congress topics among the companies and institutions in Poland and in the world dealing with copper ore mining or supporting copper mining. We are convinced that first such a Congress will be valuable enough for its participants so that among many technical conferences and meetings it will get its permanent place in the calendar of events worth participating in also in the future.
President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
Herbert Wirth
